a Leftist look at Biden & Modern Neoliberalism
This whole Joe Biden situation should serve as a reminder that no matter how much of a “Lite-Right” person the democrats choose to elect, the American right will continue to brand them as communists and traitors to America. Where the American democratic party fails however is, instead of realizing that inherent bias, they continue to move their policies farther right in some pathetic bid to maybe pick up a couple slacking republicans.
In doing so they effectively abandon those in the working class as well as those ACTUALLY on the left. This rightward movement is especially evident in the election of Biden — He’s our American Rebound. Like, whenever you break up with someone who was a complete clown, your rebound is likely just anyone you can convince yourself is decent. That’s Joe Biden. Now, because the president is a democrat, and democrat=good within the current zeitgeist, Joe Biden is likely to fall into the same patterns of behavior as Trump was — But he’ll face little to no criticism for it from his own side. It’s another situation of Bush vs Obama on a moral scale. New England liberals loved Obama, even as he bombed hospitals (see Kunduz airstrike) and continued the pointless conflict in the east. The democrat establishment is very desirous that their candidate be elected, even at the cost of most actual progressive ideas.
